Summer Housing

On-Campus Option

On-campus summer housing is available for students meeting any of the following criteria:
  • Enrolled in faculty-supported research
  • Working for an office on campus
  • International students
  • Colgate athletes
University housing for summer is available for up to 11 weeks between May 23 and August 9, 2019. The cost for on-campus housing starts at $125 per week and includes a 10-block meal plan. Housing and meals are assigned on a week by week basis, with weeks running from Sunday to Saturday. Students sign-up for summer housing in week-long blocks; arriving mid week will not decrease the cost for that week.

Any questions regarding housing should be directed to the Office of Residential Life at 315-228-7367 or reslife@colgate.edu, and any questions regarding dining should be directed to Colgate Dining Services at 315-228-7670 or diningservices@colgate.edu.
Summer housing assignments will be sent out via e-mail in early May. Any questions regarding housing during these periods should be directed to the Office of Residential Life at 315-228-7367 or reslife@colgate.edu.
Housing facilities
Summer housing is located in Curtis Hall.
Housing prior to Summer Housing
Please complete a late-stay form for the spring semester through your Colgate Housing Account.
Housing after Summer Housing ends
If your program requires you to be on campus after summer housing closes, your Director/Faculty/Coach will have an opportunity to inform our office that you need early arrival housing for the fall semester. More information regarding the process will be released soon.
Choosing a roommate
The summer housing application will allow you to list one roommate preference. If you know someone that is also staying for the summer, and will be on campus the same weeks as you, you are encouraged to list that person as your roommate preference. You may only request one roommate, and the request must be mutual to be accepted.
Housing for graduating seniors
Graduating seniors are not eligible for summer housing on campus.
Housing for students working off campus
Students working off-campus are not eligible for summer housing.
Late applications
Any applications submitted after the deadline will be reviewed after all other applicants have been housed. There is no guarantee that you will receive housing if your application is submitted late.

Off-Campus Option

Colgate University students are not required to live on campus during the summer and may choose to live off campus. For many students, particularly rising sophomores and juniors, this is a great opportunity to see if off-campus life is something you want to pursue for your senior year. There is no lottery for off-campus summer housing. The Office of Residential Life can supply a listing of available summer properties to anyone interested. Should you decide to pursue off-campus summer housing options, please keep the following items in mind:
  • Be sure that your off-campus housing option has facilities that will meet your needs throughout the summer term
  • Secure off-campus housing for the entirety of your summer stay
  • Request and retain a copy of your lease for your records
  • We cannot guarantee you can move in earlier than the returning student move-in date

Payments for On-Campus Housing

The cost for on-campus housing starts at $125 per week and includes a 10-block meal plan. Housing and meals are assigned on a week by week basis, with weeks running from Sunday to Saturday. Students leaving their housing assignments early will still be charged for the entire number of weeks requested on the housing contract. No refunds will be issued for summer housing. Students will be responsible for any damages that occur to residence hall property.

The resident agrees to make payment according to the Office of Student Accounts’s billing schedule and payment methods.

If you have any questions about the summer application process, please contact the Office of Residential Life at 315-228-7367 or reslife@colgate.edu.
