In the 2016-2017 academic year, in preparation for strategic planning work on diversity, equity and inclusion to be done by members of the campus community, Colgate commissioned an external review of efforts in this area. Colgate For AllStudents march to call for a Colgate For All

During the fall of 2014, the efforts of our passionate student body refocused and reenergized the university's focus on issues of diversity and inclusion. The creation of a 21-point, tangible action plan was just the beginning of a unified effort to ensure that Colgate is truly a place for all people in the pursuit of knowledge. COLGATE FOR ALL

ALANA Cultural Center

Office of Equity and Diversity
Colgate's office of equity and diversity works toward the following goals:
  • Strengthen diversity recruitment efforts.
  • Respond to concerns regarding equity and diversity, including perceived discrimination and harassment.
  • Offer diversity education opportunities for the Colgate community.
  • Coordinate campus-wide efforts to promote a welcoming and inclusive climate.
  • Assess the progress of ongoing diversity efforts.
  • Develop strategies to communicate and publicize Colgate's diversity achievements.
  • Offer dual-career assistance.
LGBTQ initiatives
LGBTQ Initiatives is dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally students. Initiatives include available Safe Zone trainings for students, faculty, and staff to better understand the needs of the LGBTQ community; an annual Queerfest celebrating and educating the campus about LGBTQ issues; ongoing student advocacy campaigns; and much more. Center for Women's Studies
The Center for Women’s Studies is a multipurpose space where students, faculty, and staff can gather to discuss a multitude of topics spanning the feminist spectrum and consider the intersectionality of identities and various forms of oppression. CENTER FOR WOMEN'S STUDIES

Religious life
Through the Office of the Chaplains, our students sustain a vibrant religious community open to those of any faith, those questioning faith, and those who identify as atheist. Interfaith initiatives promote education and understanding between these diverse groups. RELIGIOUS LIFE
International students
Our international student community brings additional perspectives and histories to conversations and practices both in and out of the classroom. The Office of International Student Services supports these students as they live in a foreign country and navigate the immigration requirements unique to their international status.
