Chapel House is a sanctuary and spiritual retreat center open to all for study and contemplation. We welcome guests of any religious affiliation or none, visitors who travel from down the street or across the globe.

  • Sat: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Please use the online reservation system to make reservations. The chapel remains open 24 hours daily.

Our Offerings

Chapel House provides a serene setting for study, worship, and meditation. Its resources include the following:
  • Chapel: Available to guests in residence, casual visitors, and groups, the chapel is open 24 hours a day.
  • Overnight accommodations: Any of six private, airy rooms may be reserved by individuals planning a stay of two nights or more.
  • Library: Over 5,000 volumes represent the wisdom of the great religions of the world.
  • Religious art: In every public space, visitors will find original works of art from a number of traditions.
  • Music room: Listeners have access to thousands of recordings, from Gregorian chant to gospel, Sufi and Sabbath prayers, Buddhist sutras and Hindu ragas.

Whom We Serve

Chapel House is open to everyone. Our visitors may subscribe to any religious tradition — or none.

Walk-in visitors and resident guests may be students, members of the Colgate community, or may have no affiliation with the university. Chapel House is available as a space for introspection and study to all who wish to take advantage of its resources.
